Glugea anomala infection does not usually produce an actual hole in the
body wall. Macroscopically visible lesions usually consist of white lumps,
which can be in various parts of the body. The so-called xenomas in the
intestinal tissue are usually visible to the naked eye as small white
granules. If you didn't see those you probably don't have Glugea, but I
can't be certain of that. Sticklebacks are the natural host for Glugea
anomala, but the identification of the organism affecting various killie
species as G. anomala is based on morphologic similarity of the organism
and is not absolutely certain. If the sticklebacks have no xenomas, it
would be difficult to implicate them. I have not seen this disease in
Rivulus or Jordanella personally, but I would assume that they might be
susceptible. I have seen the infection in Nothos, Cynolebias, and
Fundulopanchax.
