Re: Eggs wont hatch - Michelle Sykes
The osmolality of the water has a marked influence on the egg shells
(hardness?). I have experienced delayed hatching with death of the embryoes
repeatedly with Rivulus marmoratus ( a brackish water fish). I have developed
a successful technique. Upon observing the eggs are "eyed up" with a formed
embryo and about to hatch, I place the eggs in a vial of water, blow in
exhaled air(for CO2) and cap the vial. I check the vial in about two hours.
The mature eggs will have hatched and the fry are placed in their grow out
containers. If some eggs are not hatched, I return them to their containers
and wait another week and repeat the process. Good luck with the Lamprichthys
tanganicanus eggs, Michelle. They are spectacular fish.
