Eggs wont hatch

I have L. tang(?) eggs.  They are eyed up, growing fine and look about
ready to hatch, then the embreyo(?) dies.  What is going on?  I change the
water once or twice a day.  They are in a margerine container with a lid.  

Any suggestions?
