Males, males everywhere
Hi,
Some time ago I got F. gardnery nigeriatum hatch. The eggs I kept in 2 g
bowl gave me about 20 fry. One of the eggs hatched in parental tank, I
did not notice it is here for a while because I was feeding them guppies
and the kid looked like a guppy. I am sure it was no other fry in the
tank except that one.
Now, all 20 fries in separate tank turned to be males. I have 4 of them
left after an outbreak of some weird desease (nothing wrong externally,
but not eating). The single fry hatched in parental tank is a female.
Next time I want to try leaving some eggs in the parental tank. Will
parents eat the fry? They did not even try to catch that girl.
Did someone else observed the effect of parent/parent's hormones or
something present in the water?
Cheers
Lilia
