Cross-breeding Vs Inbreeding

One last thing about dogs ... most of the pure bred domestic dogs we see now
are the result of cross-breeding in the past.

I feel that some people got upset with what I wrote about cross-breeding.
That was not my goal, I really need answers to my questions. I want to thank
Gary for his reply; now I understand the difference between species and
varieties but, with that in mind, mixing 2 varieties of F. gardneri should
not be called cross-breeding (somebody is going to hit me again!).

Let me rephrase my questions:

1- What is the difference between Aphyosemion and Fundulopanchax?

2- Is it possible that what we consider 2 different species are in fact 2
varieties of the same species or, in other words, where is the thin line
between species and varieties?

3- Is it possible that very similar species from close location in the wild
are the result of natural cross-breeding
(I don't really need an answer on this one, it had to happen!)

4- For a typical example of species/varieties can someone describe the whole
"family tree" of the Gardneri group?

... about dogs .... JUST JOKING !!!

Thanks,
