This could definitely be due to a deficiency in Vit C, depending on what
they are being fed. Good quality flake foods contain stabilized Vit C. If
they don't eat flake, white worms fed with some flake food is a way to get
the vit C into them. Most (all?) fish are unable to make vit. C for
themselves and the classic sign in cultured trout etc. is boney deformaties.
