Jim Robinson story Cincy show

Jim Robinson related a humorous anecdote regarding a "new" population
of Rivulus up in Toronto. It's Rivulus harti JFR98-1. The JFR stands for
Jim's Fish Room.

It seems he picked up a few pair several months back. Two of the 4 fish
promptly disappeared in an apparent successful suicide attempt to
become "crispy critters." The tank with the remaining pair soon
developed an undetected leak and Jim thought that he had lost the strain.

A recent visitor to his fishroom was commenting on the puddle of water
in the far corner of Jim's room. You see, Jim's fish room is a concrete
bunker underneath his backyard patio. There's a central floor drain that
Jim uses by letting the syphoned water run across the concrete floor. It
sure beats carrying buckets.

On closer examination, the visitor noticed movement in the puddle. Sure
enough, there was the original missing pair. They had flopped across
the fishroom to this puddle and had been living there for several weeks.
What's more is that there were fry! The little devils had spawned on the
cement floor. (BTW, Arch Martin was nearly in tears at this point in the
story.)

Jim promptly moved the pair back into a regular tank were the promptly
died. Figures! He did successfully transfer some of the fry to a tank
plus there are still a few left in the puddle.

BTW, Jim's PC did a "crash and burn" so he's been off-line for a few
weeks.
