I have never personally had a problem with hydra however, speaking to a friend
who did have a problem with dissapearing fry, and after examination under the
microscope hydra appeared to be the problem.  He solved the problem by
disinfectiing each of the infected tanks by removing the fish only (plants if
any were sacrificed) and sterilizing the tanks using very hot water.  One
teaspoon of salt per gallon of water should insure that the problem does not
reoccur.
