I do not think it is a cynical view, from my experience it is simply a
realistic view. We have collected around one hundred populations of West
african killikish for the past 20 years, may be only 10 are still present
in the hobby. I think the main reason is that people are looking for new
populations and loose interest for old ones, it is like fashion, what is
new is better. I might go further saying that I do not believe too much  in
any killifish association as being really involved in conservative projects
despite some attempts to do so.
