Hi yet again!
Allusion was made to 19 lineatus males for every female. (There are
times in fairly acidic tanks when I have gotten more females...) The
poster is probably correct in crediting this to cannibalism. Whenever my
work schedule gets too hectic (hense less consistent feedings) I get
fewer fry and more males. Try (do as I say, not as I do) either more
consistently feeding them (maybe less at a time, more times a day) or
sorting them by size even as fairly small fry. The sorting may be best
done with a small jar or cup or even a turkey baster rather than with a
net. The intersibling cannibalism is probably not the only reason for
high male ratios, but it certainly can be a factor.
