Re Killie Talk 244 Aplocheilus Lineatus Gold
Reading this problem about Apl Lin Gold Form, comes as no
surprise to me
and some of my Killie friends. Here are some of the problems
we encountered
with this fish, very weak and deformed fry, hardly lasting 6
months, rarely to
adulthood, predominately males ratio about 95-1, quite a lot
of belly sliders,
poor colours when sexed out and as was mentioned
cannibalistic.
I kept this species for about 2 years before giving up, it is
a beautiful fish
very productive as to egg production, but I suspect being a
hybrid, this is
where all the problems come from. When it was first seen in
the UK, it
was given the fanciful name of Golden Wonder and fetched
expensive
prices, I would never keep it again I deem it a waste of
time.
Having kept other pure Lineatus, never had any problems with
eggs or
fry, I keep lots of Killies that are harder fish to spawn and
rear, but I
stick with these they're worth the extra
effort.
