Beginners

In response to Barry Cooper,

Keep the digest. I subscribe to miltiple Listservs and it's much easier to
keep the sources straight in a digest than in wading through the (approx) 100
Listserv messages I receive daily (in addition to my regular email).

As far as beginners assistance is concerned, what we need are more local
chapters. Our club, the Chesapeake Area Killie Club, put on an Introduction
to Killifish at a local pet store which was received quite well. Other areas
might consider working with libraries, museums, or nature centers. What I've
learned with many organizations is that local service will define the value of
the organization to a number of people.

As far as AKA assistance, I have found that the beginner's guide (both paper
and online versions) include all the information a fairly novice hobbiest
needs to get involved with killies. I'm not particulary interested in spoon-
feeding those who are too lazy to read and follow the information in these
publications.
