Actually, we do pay a small fee for the hosting of KillieTalk by
FINS. We have almost since i started moderating KillieTalk which
seems like forever at this point but has only been 6 years. They also
get advertising revenue. But we do not pay anything like we would
have to normally if we wanted paid support although other types of
group hosting is free. Mark has done us a great service and has put
up with the ISP blocking problems, etc. I want to give him a huge
thanks for all the help and hosting he has provided and still provides
with the archive.
This so-called "Welcome Screen" to the KT archives which, as
I see it,
has an oxymoron or paradox which states, "provided by the
AKA ... " but
you will IN FACT see above is a service provided by FINS.
Again, incorrect. Barry transferred KillieTalk to the AKA a long time
ago and the AKA has maintained "ownership" ever since. The BOT has
ultimate control of KillieTalk.
"Don't like it, Delete it, thats what its there for"
I agree whole heartedly - not sure why more people do not use that
function versus getting upset.
I also agree with an earlier post: I do not expect my BOT to be poll
takers and then vote with the majority (even when i am in the
majority!). It is their responsibility to do what they believe is
best which requires being informed on the issue and listening to what
members want but not necessarily doing what the majority of the
members want. To Pick an unlikely example, it is possible that the
majority of the members would want the assets of the AKA divided among
the current members that agree with them but the BOT should not do
that because it is not the right thing to do.
