Re: [Killietalk] Forums
Okay, I have dial-up service. I have looked through what I thought were the
forums, but must have been archives because I marked to be notified of new
posts and have gotten nothing in over a week, and some of you are
indicating forum activity. I guess I will not be getting any notifications or
anything useful from the AKA site once Killietalk goes..... Carolyn

Although I'm likely going to use the forums less (maybe a good think-
more time for water changes), I'm happy to see KT going. The forum
layout has improved over the last several weeks, and there are
starting to be more posts. It's good to see the club moving away from
old technology. Until KT goes, I will duplicate post here and the
forums where appropriate. I do have a couple of suggestions for the
forums:
Have WTB and For Sale/trade listings like many forums do, and do away
with the classifieds as a seperate section. This would likely make
the lonely hearts forum useless as well, since they could be posted in
the appropriate wtb or for sale/trade forum.
We have SAA, Nothos, West African Non-Annuals, and Lampeyes. What
about Rivs, all other old world, and natives? Possibly combine some
forums: N and S american non-annuals (rivs, natives, etc) as well as
including lampeyes in all other old world. Shouldn't our forums at
least somewhat adhere to our show classes? Obviously we don't need 15
forums, but at least include a place for everyone.
Since many of us keep other fish, possibly an off topic fish forum as
well. There's a wealth of non-killie knowledge here.
Should show results be open to the public or members only? This
kinda' seems like club business. I guess non-members can enter in
shows, so either way. Just a thought.
Even with a pretty fast connection here, I have sluggish load times
due to the graphics intensity of the website. I imagine the forums
would be pretty hard to use for anyone with a slow connection. Also
white on blue can be difficult to read (or in Lee's case nearly
impossible). Possibly link to the forums from the home page and have
them black on white.
