Re: [Killietalk] well water

When I had only well water my biggest problem was saving enough rain water to mix with the well water in the dry periods of the year. I had several 50 gal. drums I used to store extra rain water to carry me over in the dry periods. Naturally water changes were done at longer intervals to conserve the rain water.. Often times I would use almost all well water in tanks that held young fish or extra adults. This never seemed to harm the fish in any way. The precious rain water was always saved to mix with the well water in tanks that held breeding pairs.

Scott: I too have well water. The issue for me is that my water changes
drastically depending on the season. I believe city water tends to be fairly consistent. My well water varies from 30 TDS to 130 TDS depending on time of
year. I have to add Equilibrium to be able to breed fish. You may find
your water changes too depending on rainfall/snow melt. Carolyn
