[Killietalk] Potassium chloride water softener

I'm sure this has come up, but I'll take another shot. I have well water softened with potassium chloride. Often, even after drip acclimating fish for 2 hours, within two days I experience mysterious fish loss. I mix 50/50 rainwater with potassium chloride softened well water. Am I concocting a deadly mixture in my ignorance? I can obviously bypass, but I have recently lost a couple really nice pairs of fish, and I'm sick about this. I have a TDS meter on order, but I never thought PC was a threat to my fish..Not so sure now..
