[Killietalk] A. sp. Bitter problem



Okay, so we've got a problem here. The species I received as Aphyosemion sp. Bitter through Janwillem Hoetmer looks like a striatum. Here's a picture:

However, Tim Addis and others have an ogoense-like fish, a picture of which can be found on his site here (scroll down a bit):

Perplexing, no? One hint I have found is that the striatum-bitters are usually labeled with GBH 01/23, while the ogoense-types come with no locality info. Is it possible that he put his name on two species, which in their status of being barely present in the hobby, became conceived as the same species. I'm not going to give this discussion any direction, comment with whatever thoughts and speculations you have. Thanks for reading and (hopefully) caring about this mix-up.
