Re: [Killietalk] Aphyosemion sp. Bitter Group
I've had this fish on one occasion, and to me it was nothing like the cameroonense-type fish I've had. I was told it was a form of A. escherichi, which as stated below is in the striatum group. I dont believe that is the wrong place for the fish, as it's body shape and color seem to match the group well. As to the ogoense group, that's an interesting thought, but given how straight the lines are and how green the body was on my fish, I would still say it's more likely a striatum type. I think the ogoense group would fall between cameroonense and striatum on the evolutionary timeline, and maybe escherichi is on the end of striatum close to ogoense. If that makes sense...(it did to me, I think)

Mike,
I thought I posted this pic before, if not here ya go...
Anyway, is this fish similar to what you are talking about? If so, to me it
looks sorta more ogense-ish, not "cameronensish" ....no clue who it's DNA
matches most
...and BTW, if you breed them, look me up...i'd like another attempt at
these...got 1 egg last time...

Subject: [Killietalk] Aphyosemion sp. Bitter Group
Hi everyone. I know I brought Aphyosemion sp. Bitter up in the past, but
I need a little more info on it. I'm looking into the different groups
of killifish, and there seems to be a little confusion, at least on my
part, on which group this species belongs to. An experienced friend of
mine said after looking at them that he thought they were in the
cameronense group. However, multiple other people think these fish are
closely related to or a location of A. escherichi, which is in the
striatum group. Anyone out there have any opinions, or better, any
definitive sources on this issue? Thanks for reading.
By the way, I think I actually have a male and female pair of these, one
of the "females" has colored up a bit and become more aggressive.
