Re: [Killietalk] Potential Styrofoam Box Replacement
Breather bags are in reality membranes that work on the principal of Co2 gas
molecule transfer out of the water and through the bag. and oxygen molecule
transfer from the atmosphere through the bag and into the water. The
efficiency of this process is wholly dependent on the water being directly
in contact with the bag. Air in the bag simply reduces the area of contact
between the water and the bag thereby reduces the efficiency of gas
transfer. Another benefit of no air is that movement of the bag does not
move the water within the bag, reducing stress such water movement has on
the fish.

No air in a breather bag only! ?In a regular bag the amount of air if more
important than the amount of water. ?

Breather bags have it all over the others. Just be careful with the knot if
you are not using a sealer. Bags can leak easily when stretched by pulling
on a knot. And remember no air. Joe in Alabama?
