A friend of mine constructed a microworm tank out of a quart sized cloeslaw
container. He made a 3 inch diameter hole in the lid and stuffed it with
aquarium filter floss. This is the polyester equivelent of "cotton candy".
It is a dense mass of white fibers which are intended to be used in air
driven aquarium filters. It is porpous enough to block any flies entering
the microworm culture, but still allows enough air in so the worms don't
suffocate. What I've learned reciently is that microworm cultures are best
maintained in at least quart sized bowls. I was cluturing them in 8 ounce
Ball jars, but these sorts of things require too much maintenance and are
best suited to sell at fish auctions as starter cultures.
