The only reason a gardneri species would be a mutt is because of the lack of 
attention the person keepng them has provided. There are many gardneri 
secies. All beautiful fish. It is imperative that they be kept apart to 
maintain the individuality of each specie. Special attention  must be given 
in egg collecting and labeling. The poor care and attention give to them 
leads to what you call a mutt fish.
