Re: [Killietalk] aphanius eggs on peat

I recently sent Aphanius fasciatus to someone in the US from the UK on wet Java moss. Eggs arrived in perfect condition. I find this is the best way to send eggs. Water over an extended period in the post is a little chancy as they can hatch & pollute the water - peat is too acidic & can melt the eggs down if fresh especially. This could get the person on the other end thinking you just sent a bag of peat.
I've also used moss taken from a wood. This works just as well.

It's been taking 3-4 days for messages to come out on the newsgroup so apologies for delayed response.

Subject: [Killietalk] aphanius eggs on peat

Hey gang,
Can aphanius eggs be sent on moist peat? As anyone here tried incubating the eggs on peat? I have no luck with water incubation. I'd like to get some aphanius eggs sent to me and I was wondering if peat would be the way to go.
