[Killietalk] Convention Help
Ken,
................what exactly did ya'll do that was so great? What was done right?
How was it different?..................
That's an easy one to answer. In my opinion, if you've got a great crew of hard working folks who really want to see the thing work, then you've got most of the battle won. It's even better if that same dedicated, hard working group has great leadership and organization, but what REALLY makes the difference is "practice, practice, practice". If your club has been fortunate enough to have had a chance to put on a West Coast Weeekend, or a WAKO or a NE Weekend every year as NWK/BAKA/VAKC/ARK/SCKC has had with WCW, then you too may see a convention run as smoothly as this one seemed to go.
Granted this was the first Convention I witnessed from the inside out, but after running WCW for several years it made doing the convention MUCH easier and less stressful.
Not to say we didn't have our glitches, but all-in-all it seemed to work pretty well and I attribute that directly to having put on several shows of this nature in the past. When you've got good help, well trained and informed, they know their jobs and they just go do them!!
Hat's off to Barry and Brian for the direction, but the execution of the thing relied on those people that are willing to get their hands wet......
Best,
Brian Perkins
