[Killietalk] Killifish Database
Barry, i have never heard anyone refer to you as
a wet blanket... but don't you have to be a member
of the aka to list species on the registry?
i deleted my entries when i decided to let me membership
lapse as i didn't want it to be out of date and didn't
think i could alter it. i am a registred member to the
aka website yet when i select 'manage listing' i get
an access denied message.
i think the person starting this thread was looking for
information on everyones killes, not just aka members
also, based on what i see in KMI 4, if you include all
flavors and locations there are more than 3000 killie
varieties...
if i only had the tank space...

I hate to be a wet blanket, but we have a module (Registry) running on
the AKA web site that does just what you suggest, tracks who is keeping
what fish. Unfortunately, most members don't seem to be interested in
participating in such a program. There have been many attempts over the
years to keep track of species in the hobby. In fact, we had a committee
called the Species Maintenance Committee responsible for this and for
alerting us to those that were in danger of being lost from the hobby.
The latter function, of course, requires knowledge of how many people
are keeping a particular species. All of these efforts have failed due
to lack of participation. It's unfortunate, but true.
