Re: [Killietalk] A. striatum color forms
Hi Scott,
A few years ago at the AKA convention there were some that were very green along the top of their bodies and I wonder if that form is still available.
Sincerely,
Sandy

Sandy,
At first I thought that was kind of an odd question. Maybe not. Following up on Burt's very good advice, click on groups at the top of the striatum page; one gets an even larger selection of images. One of those fish I wouldn't even have thought of as a striatum.
I would also suggest that the yellow-orange intensity on their fins (and those of several killies from Riv magdelenae to gardneri) is partly a function of diet (live foods), whether the animal is kept indoors or outsideor maybe even water changes.
David Ramsey's presentations on killie foods emphasize the importance of vitamins. One of many intriguing suggestions he offers is to gut load Daphnia or brine shrimp, using a very dilute solution of (vitamin-rich) yeast and feeding those creatures to the killies shortly there-after.
Gotta try that. Do wonder what impact that may have on the killies and their colors.
Recently read that the color of that hermaphroditic crayfish making the rounds could be influenced by diet. Sure enough, the little beggar was turning orangish with an occasional feeding of Tetra color crumbles.
All the best!
Scott
