Yes but too many times I have seen people come in and spend tons of money and we never see off spring from these fish. I fee the reason we have lost a lot of species to the hyobby is because we are putting the dollar first. The Aka was founded to preserve killifis and educate the fish keeping hobby. If responsible breeders Like you get them first and work w3ith them the fish are around for years to come.

Fish, maybe especially killifish, are strange. A "newbie" may wind
up
breeding an especially difficult fish yet have a really tough time with a
medium difficulty fish. Chances are a bidder on a relatively difficult or
rare fish is bidding because he or she failed or did not have a chance to
breed that species before, thus the bidder is probably not an experienced
breeder of the fish he or she is bidding on! An auction is a fundraiser and
as such should try to attract ANY AND ALL bidders.
A box sale is to me one of the greatest incentives to attending an event. A
chance to see what you are buying and talk to the breeder, a chance to sell
what you have raised to raise money to spend at the event and just an
overall nice time meeting people and learning what they can tell you. With
today's mailing costs and timeliness, an event or meeting is the primary
way
to acquire killifish. As far as a "bag or percentage charge" that is
sort
of up to the local club holding the event. IF it is too high, few sale bags
will be there or the price will just be raised to reflect the surcharge
(remember there is "FREE" postage and live delivery is a certainty!),
if too
low, maybe the local club won't be able to at least break even on the
event.
To me without a fishroom sale or a box sale I would not be attracted to an
event. I am there to meet people and get some fish!
