[Killietalk] raising daphniae

I recommend a pinch of Flubendazole or equivalent on the surface of a daphniae culture once in a while to kill of an important killer of daphniae cultures - hydra.

I have kept a 20 gallon plastic container of Daphnia for more than 4 years in my fish room. I keep one of those "100 watt" compact fluorescent lights on it all the time. I added an air stone to keep the water moving just enough to turn things over every few minutes.

I feed the culture a combination of crushed Spirulina flakes Spirulina powder & paprika. I change the water once a month. The same culture has been going for 4 years last January. I net out a tablespoon full every 3 to 5 days with my BBS net.
