Re: [Killietalk] Shipping eggs

I shipped about 6 species of non annual west African killifish eggs to
Buenos Aires Argentina. I packed them in almost sopping wet peat. This
slowed down development significantly to assure they would last the time.
Argentina is 3 weeks minimum from the US no matter how you ship them. At
least a week to get there and then more time to assure all the officials get
a cut so they do finally get to the recipient. Real mess! Took three
trials to finally get eggs through but most did well after the 3 week
transit time, taking an additional week to 3 weeks after submersion to
hatch. The peat really slows them down.
