Re: [Killietalk] Shipping eggs
Kyle, et all
Karl is right, while I've got about 1/2 my species via mail...it doesn't
count the other 20+ attempts that failed or nearly so...I've sold and
received eggs on Aquabid, so God only knows how many duds I sold...
Personally, I've sent out eggs to 3-4 people "mid-winter"...I'm not sure
what the results were, but I treated them like fish: heat pack, clean water,
air and a insulated package...I use that method because eggs I've received
in that manner have a much higher hatch 5 than the ole peat in an envelope
thing
Thing is, the mailing environment isn't always the culprit...obviously our
skills vary at shipping prowess, and that "universally" applied shipping
method of sticking eggs in peat, and thence into an envelop is IMHO
guaranteed to yield poor or at best "so so" results for many aphyosemions at
least, esp. over long distances....
I guess perhaps my stint in killies isn't long enough to have credibility to
criticize this method or that, all I know is aphy eggs in peat and thence in
an envelop might be a inexpensive/easy shipping method, but IMHO is
certainly a subpar method for certain species (especially using "fresh"
eggs)
....whomever keeps advocating this method outta put a strong disclaimer on
it at least...

Dont deal in eggs. Though the mail it is a crap shoot.Un less you need the
money & not any fish friends. Mail fish if they make it alive your
obligation is done.I dont mail eggs if i can hand deliver them thats ok. I'm
speaking with almost 40 years of experience
