Re: [Killietalk] Shipping eggs

Dont deal in eggs. Though the mail it is a crap shoot.Un less you need the money & not any fish friends. Mail fish if they make it alive your obligation is done.I dont mail eggs if i can hand deliver them thats ok. Maybe I can start a conversation here. What's the best way to ship eggs?

I'm not having very good luck with Aquabid orders for eggs (and there's not a lot available right now through the AKA). My own eggs do fine. Since I want to make eggs available when the weather warms up, I'm curious about two things:

1) Is wet peat the best way to send? It sure hasn't been the best way to receive them in my experience.

2) Can I wait until I see some real development before I ship mine (21 day incubation types)? Like @ 7 to 10 days.

Ironically, my best results have been supplied by a breeder in Germany - not by domestic breeders. He uses wet (though fibrous) peat also, but my hatches are much better through him despite the journey. I was thinking of vials of water with eggs placed in polyester yarn. Much easier to find and see what you acually got from the start. Any suggestions?

Kyle
