Re: [Killietalk] Killie Karnival 2009: A Review
As Karl said...
Best in show fish is chosen, then reserve best in show (out of all class winners). The remaining New World fish that won their class are eligible for Best New World, the remaining old world fish that won their class are eligible for Best Old World. Results are chosen from those pools. This probably made more sense before the Reserve BOS award was added, but we didn't quite think it was necessary for one pair of fish to win two of the big awards. The fish that wins best Old or New World may be the best old or new world fish, but often not because that fish already took BOS or Reserve.

"For the show, congrats to Dave Hemmerlein for his Best Old World pair of
Aphanius vladykovi, Vern Cloud for Best New World pair of Rivulus
rectocaudatus, Greg Schoenberg for a fantastic pair of Fp. gardneri Rayfield
that took Reserve Best in Show, and Scott Davis for his Best In Show pair of
Fundulus notatus"
Maybe it's just me, but how does a pair of Fundulus notatus win Best of
Show
but not Best New World? And likewise, how does the Fp. gardneri Rayfield win
Reserve of Show and not Best Old World? Seems to me that by definition the
notatus should be Best New World and the gardneri the Best Old World.
