[Killietalk] Hosting Annual shows

Brian,
I believe you are wrong with that last shot a Karl. So, I went back thru my e-mails to check. We (Chika) were contacted in May of '08 in regards to hosting and putting forth a bid for 2010. (the BNL was also begging for bids)  Contact, I believe, was made then by Tom Grady. I put it to our membership and the consensus was no. However, we did believe at the time that maybe Chicago should host 2011, as it would be the 50th. anniversary of the first show. Which I understand was in Chicago. Later in November, myself and a couple of Chika board members were cornered at the WAKO show by Jack Heller. He put forth the idea of an AKA hosted show in 2010, and that he was only basically looking for a host club to do the labor, possibly, WAKO and ChiKa members jointly. He said at the time he had even done some preliminary scouting around for hotels in Chicago, and couldn't believe the high rates even with room guarantees. Again, I went to our members and the
decision was, why do the grunt work, and not be rewarded with any monetary gains made?  And if there were any monies to split, how would that occur between the two clubs? Again, we went back to 2011. Jack informed us that it was also an anniversary for the St. Louis group and they would probably want it. We as a club dropped it after that.
