Re: [Killietalk] vitrual events, Convention, etc

So I just don't have the time to read all of the posts concerning
this, but I read quite a few and haven't seen this come up yet. Why
do the virtual events have to be run at the same time as the live
convention? Why can't a virtual event be run on it's own at a
different time? I can imagine a virtual AKA convention in say
October. (I don't think there are any shows in Oct, good weather for
shipping etc). Set up speakers on live webcam, distribute their
powerpoint presentations so we can follow along (or maybe set them up
with flashplayer), IM roundtable talks (if you can read/type fast you
can attend more than one roundtable talk!), and set up an online
auction for say 6 hours. This can all be accomplished easily at
probably significantly less cost than a live convention, and less
work/fewer headaches than running it at the same time as a live
convention. I agree shows are enough work, we don't need to be
running a virtualcon simultaneously. If the AKA site had an auction
section this would be even easier.

I think this would be much more doable.
BTW Ken, are you making it to Michiana by chance?
