They are all over the springs and streams at Ash meadows, they are
beautiful. It's likely what you saw in Florida too. They get huge in the
cooler water systems.

I must be missing something. What is it about these snails that nobody
likes? If they multiply, it means they are eating organics such as rotting
food or vegetation. So what's the problem? I've never found them in mops
like pond snails. I recall collecting a similar looking snail in the sand of
beautiful clear sand-bottomed forest streams in the Florida panhandle and
thinking they were better looking than lots of hobby snails. - Bob G.
