[Killietalk] How to properly clean a tank..

Warm soapy water and a plastic pad first. Soak it then scrub it
inside and out. Water scale may need a single edged razor blade to
remove it. Also a baking soda solution will help dissolve the
scale. This will take some soaking time and elbow grease. As has
been suggested, a mild bleach solution will fairly effectively
disinfect the tank. Brewers use about 1/8 cup (30 ml) of bleach in
5 gallons of water. Here contact time is needed so let it soak for
20 to 30 minutes. Rinse well (3-4 Times) and let it air dry over night.

I use 2 1/2 gallon tanks to raise fry up to large enough to go into a
15 gallon tank. This is the procedure that I use. The weak bleach
solution with a 1/2 hour contact period is widely recommenced in
brewing, public kitchens, cheese making, and other food preparation settings.

Don't through out the tanks.
