Avoid those hundreds of hurty little cut install marbles to the covers with
silicone  for handles.

Plus, as far as I know, glass is not toxic (no bisphenol A or phthalates), 
doesn't sag in my lifetime, scratches only with long term abuse, but not
like 
plastic, is heavier and unlikely to be knocked off by a jumping gularis, but

requires a glass cutting tool to cut or a diamond drill to make a hole.
