Actually Cosmin, the IBC is not down in membership but up by a very small
amount. On 7/1/08 they have 693 members. I don't feel like digging back into
the records but 3 years ago when we began to go electronic we had
approximately 650 to 675 members. As you mention, due to the economy and the
general down turn in the pets industry, I am amazed we have shown a gain.

I am more inclined to blame that IBC membership drop to a general decline in
the interest people have for fancy bettas. I belonged to many betta groups
on MSN, Yahoo, and Delphi. They are now very stagnant and nothing really
happens there. It's been a while I heard someone setting up a betta barrack.
Yes there are the hardcore breeders that will always breed, but the crowd of
week-end breeders has slimmed.
