[Killietalk] Grindal's Life Cycle
Hello Gang:
I got a big starter culture recently form another lister. Thanks to all
that replied. Al, I have not forgotten about your almond leaves :-).
My question is simple... when is it ok to start harvesting the worms? I
have searched the archives and google looking for info on the grindal
lifecycle to avoid over harvesting. In Diane's page I read something
like... when they are eating 9 catfood pellets it is ok to start
harvesting them. I have a 6x6x1.5 plastic food container with a lot of
worms that consume only 2 to 3 trout chow pellets each day. I have setup
another bowl as backup.
How long do they live? How long before there are so many I have to move
them to a bigger container if I don't harvest them? I guess those of you
doing the dirt less method have a better feeling for this as you can
basically see all the worms. Since I'm a grindal newbie I want to stick
to the traditional soil method for a while.
hasta pronto,
Pablo
