Re: [Killietalk] Old Convention Favorites
Ray,
Interesting thought! Too much to do this week, vis-a-vis this year's killie activities and the convention to explore this much now. 1970 was before my time in the AKA (though I was drolling over Scheel's articles), but if there were any records of what was paid for specific killies in that auction or of another of somewhat the same time, it might be fun to make comparisons - in a few weeks. ;)
Grist for the mill:
The Inflation Calculator
http://www.westegg.com/inflation/
contends that
" What cost $100 in 1970 would cost $559.68 in 2007. Also, if you were to buy exactly the same products in 2007 and 1970, they would cost you $100 and $18.37 respectively"
And of course that would be a tad different now.
And gas was estimated, by a couple of web sites, to be 34-36 cents/gallon in 1970. ;)
Of course we could be in Europe and pay the equivalent of $10/ gallon today, but that's whole 'nother discussion. :)
All the best!

were on par with today's bids in $ numbers, but in 1970's dollars. So if you
think that some of today's bids are high (and sometimes they have been), consider
what those Killies were going for in those days in real 1970's dollars. Ray
