Re: [Killietalk] N&R - Ron Schultz

Let me pick up on Ron Schultz's suggestion, which I think is a great idea. A
big problem everywhere is that most aquarists know about ebay et al., but
don't know about the importers who will gladly sell a box of fish (or fewer)
to an aquarist by pickup or sight unseen by mail or freight. I suggest
discussing a policy, perhaps to be scheduled for a part of the BOT meeting
at the convention, wherein any wild fish importer willing to sell to an AKA
member at some discount (say 10% but it could be less) would be entitled to
a free 1/4 or 1/8 page advertisement in the BNL, continuing and contingent
on a generally favorable response from the membership on how that's working
out. We could start the discussion next week, and let the BOT keep at it
until they get out the kinks and decide to implement a policy something like
this. Again, this is a suggestion to kick around. If it gets kicked out,
that's fine too. But I'd like the people who are elected to deal with issues
like this to kick it around. If several of you agree, then let's agree to
let the BOT deal with it; let's not go wild and tell them what to do and how
it should be done. - Bob Goldstein
