Re: [Killietalk] N&R; is discussing solutions taboo?

Pretty much so yes without an importer's license

Anyway: a few months back, someone here mentioned getting fish from oversees
now has legal hurdles, what is the EXACT deal with that anyway? Does that
mean eggs from Aquabid are illegal?

Well, I dunno if that dead horse is beat enuff or not, but certainly ideas
are "safe" enuff to banter about w/o too much flame retardant needed..

The whole N&R thing seems to raise hackles at any mention of it and I
wonder how much of the thing is "solvable" anyway.I mean for starters the
idea of N&R and the fishes value in the 1st place is a diminishing return;
heck once a fish is well distributed is it any longer "N&R" and thence not
worth as much? . so IMO it think killies are kinda weird in that as soon as
a fish is "common", its demand drops and it becomes N&R again..goofy.

.and BTW, has a complete census been done?, and where are we with that thing
on the AKA site (ya know where we list all our sepecies, et et).I know I
haven't navigated that thing in months.has anyone done anything with that
data? Where is is it? Who has it? Can we see it? (basically wondering who
the heck christens a fish N&R anyway?)

.personally, I've cheated, stole and fanagled about 7-12 "N&R" species outta
some kind hobbyist and into my foul, dirty & cold tanks (in the last yr or
so), and if I don't kill em, most likely I'll contribute the offspring to
the good ole boy conspiracy and repay the debt to my "friends " in fish:
just like everyone else.that is until the BOT, AKA or someone with
leadership provides some guidance, structure or impetus for me to do
otherwise.(I've recently discovered that I'm a involuntary member of the
GOBN) <LOL>

Ken (just running off a few more thin skinned list monitors) <LOL>
