Re: [Killietalk] ] New arrivals for N&RS Sales at the convention
But, Bob, when one goes back on his word, that is a problem and that's where
the AKA becomes, well, let me politely use the term "less than perfect".
An individual applies for a committee chairmanship. The job is explained to
him, the "guidelines" are explained CLEARLY AND EXPLICITLY and in fact are
made REQUIREMENTS by the appointing chairman. An AKA chairmen appoints him
to the job and the BOT approves.
Then the moment the AKA chairman is out of office, the committee chair takes
it on himself to change the procedures, send fish to friends and affiliate
clubs rather than follow the clear and specific directions to be fair and
impartial to all members.
No, that burns my xxxxx and I won't just sit here and let it be ignored. And
a BOT that does doesn't deserve to remain in office.
Year after year I see BOT propositions ignored, countermanded and the
direction of the AKA go whichever way the "wind" (or methane) blows. It is
the job of the BOT advisor to advise the BOT of past decisions and
resolutions and rarely is that done. Rather things go from east to west,
north to south, year after year and there is NO FORWARD PROGRESS.
The BOT themselves should have the bylaws and guidelines, if not memorized,
fully understood. We shouldn't need to cite guidelines to people like Brian
Watters who was a chairman at one time. Chairmen should KNOW the bylaws and
guidelines and ensure that their Boards follow them.

I agree. While Edd may have valid concerns, I've always felt that when you
do something for nothing, you have the right to do it your way. If anyone
doesn't like the job you do, they have the option of doing it themselves
or hiring someone else. We all work differently and have different ideas,
otherwise we wouldn't volunteer; we think we can do something better.
Well, when I want a job I have to show that I'm the best choice, and when
that job comes up for renewal I have to compete for it again. This club
has great people, great ideas, and a hundred ways to get from here to
there. The guy carrying the load has not just the responsibility to carry
the load, but the freedom to do it as he sees fit. That's what's meant by
guidelines. When I had JAKA some people had other ideas of how to do it,
and volunteered to do it themselves. They were right, in hindsight, and
the AKA is better for it. Edd, I know you have different ideas of how NRSC
should be operated in addition to whether it is operated the way you think
is mandated (but we diagree on whether it is mandated or a guideline). The
solution is to show that you can do it better and demonstrate to the BOT
that they can trust you with that job. I'm certain you can do both. So
let's move on. You volunteer, offer your credentials, and let the BOT take
it from there. In the meantime, we can get back to telling dirty jokes. -
