I've never been to Texas, but it seems to me that "hollerin' in the dark" 
isn't what I'm reading.  Is this leading to an announcement of your interest 
in running the New and Rare Species committee out of Corpus Christi? That 
would be an interesting proposal I think a lot of members would be very 
excited about.  Or is this thread you're trying to launch like our regional 
colloquialism in eastern Canada, "p***ing in the snow"?
