Your complaint is pertaining to the late AKA N&RS committee. I have no idea of the specifics. You may be correct in your concerns.

Specifics of that case aside, that has also got to be one of the hardest and most thankless jobs anywhere. Just everyone has 20-50-100 extra functioning aquariums around the house to accommodate that stuff and skin thicker than an elephant. US F&WL service has certainly made the process more complicated. (And as with all human activities they are right and wrong.) And then there is the cost of shipping...

As Tom noted, the use of N&RS was meant as a buzz word to communicate that there would be "more New, Wild & Rare Species" brought in.Unfortunately that may leave non-attending members out of the bidding. The alternative is to  make the convention offerings much less than they are. 

We has a deal with a very gracious person to send in killies for the CKA show in March. Our mistake was to try and bring them in within a window of two weeks. That allowed not one, but two carriers to cancel or reroute flights four times and finally force us to just cancel the whole thing. Our guests by the way, were very gracious about what was attempted and not accomplished. It was still one of the best CKA events ever.

Kudos to UNYKA for planning more ahead in terms of bringing those killies in..

If a group is going to host a big event, it makes sense to try and do all they can to make it the best possible. Yes some of the killies purchased will not make it. That is true of local auctions too.

But the option of nothing ventured, certainly doesn't make the hobby any better. Then nobody gets any killies to breed and spread around to anyone, anywhere.

Larry, if you want to bid on one or more of those killies, let me know off list what and how much. Send us a check and a box and we'll mail whatever gets purchased to you Tuesday after the convention. :)

Proxy bids are a nice idea, but host clubs are usually unbelievably stretched and don't need that additional labor spread among those still standing. For those not attending who are interested in specific killies, try to work through one of the 100 (plus or minus) attendees. One or two proxies a person wouldn't be too hard and some of us (uh, financially challenged individuals) can look like high rollers. ;)
