[Killietalk] Clarification and more New, Wild & Rare Species

I feel we need to be clear about this latest shipment of fish because it
is only fair ... the credit for the latest additions to the convention
auction of N&RS go to Henri DeBruyn and Dave Koran. Dave brought the fish
back to the US after his trip to the DKG convention and Henri provided the
conduit for the fish.

I would like to correct some of the information that seems to be going
around. Although UNYKA is calling the fish we are bringing in N&RS - it is
simply a term which most people understand - the reality of getting these
fish for the Sunday auction is really multi-fold. The AKA provided $1,500
to the UNYKA Convention Committee in lieu of the fact there is no AKA N&RSC
at this time. UNYKA is using those funds to find and purchase fish which
should be of interest to conventioneers and the hobby in the US in general.
Instead of purchasing the fish as in the past by N&RSC was able - we are
getting only a few pairs or in some cases only 1 pair of fish as we find
them. Fish are coming in from around the world for this convention, both
from commercial importers as well as private breeders. The intent of UNYKA
is to provide great fish for the auction so the AKA can make money. In an
effort to dispel confusion, I am now terming these imports as New, Wild &
Rare Species (NWR Species)

NO EXCUSE TO MISS SYRACUSE NOW: Register today!

For the curious an update today: We hope all arrive in good condition.

A shipment of fish that was air freighted today includes:

Nothobranchius kirki Chiuta MW 91-15
Nothobranchius rubroreticulatus Zakouma National Park TD 05-2
Nothobranchius rachovii Dondo MOZ 04-6 (Intermediate form)
Pronothobranchius kiyawensis Ada GH 5-06
Fundulosoma thierryi Ada GH 5-06
Lacustricola species Kasanka National Park ZAM 07-2

We are also aware that there will be some wild Chromaphyosemion poliaki Buea
Carwash, Chromo. splendopleure Tika and Fp. gardneri mamfense Mamfe which
should be arriving at the convention.

UNYKA has in its hands now 30 pairs of the following wild fish:
Epiplatys hildegardi
Epiplatys njalensis (likely a fasciolatus form)
Epiplatys annulatus Fotalah Guinea
Epiplatys sexfasciatus
Epiplatys bifasciatus
Scrpt. geryi
Scrpt. chaytori

A. cameronense Akometum
A. hofmanni GBBW 00/20
Aus. viarius
Aus. melanoorus

We are expecting:

11 species of rare Rivulus including 2 brand new Colombian species collected
by Frans Vermeulen
A number of pairs of various Diapterons
Fp. kamdemi
Fp. avichang

We also have at least two other expected imports from Europe which each
contain somewhere between 30 and 100 pairs of fish. I have a good idea of
what is in the shipments, but will not pass on the information until they
arrive.

Thus UNYKA is providing somewhere upwards of 200 pairs of UNYKA arranged NRW
Species Some will be used for raffles and other special events, but the
vast majority will be auctioned Sunday.

I hope this clears up any misconceptions about the term N&RS ... I will use
NWR Species from now on.
