Re: [Killietalk] Killietalk Digest, Vol 57, Chilled b.s. nauplii

I have been harvesting my hatches of 80% Utah Artemia nauplii at 24 hours then keeping the freshly hatched nauplii in brine. I use a plastic shoe box with about 1/2 of water in the refrigerator. They don't have a chance to go through the first molt and fish seem to do well on them.

I can hatch enough on one day to allow me to skip another batch one day if I want. I have not tried this with killies because I don't have any. It gets so warm in my fish room in our Summers that I have to keep and raise warm water fish like Discus, Apistogramma, Peckoltia L134 and Sturisoma aureum. All the dozens of killies I've tried in my present fish room have really hard times getting through the Summer months. But I think most killies would accept the chilled Artemia except perhaps newly hatched killies. Once the fry have a little size to them they will eat a wider range of foods.
