Re: [Killietalk] photo BBS

Is it possible we are seeing different strains/species?

Some of yours certainly look as wide as they are long, but some do not.
I assume the 28 hrs was from wet time. [ BTW. Most of mine would be
Instar 2 by that time.]

Mine only look longer after about 5-6 hours after hatch. Before that,
they are all at least as wide as they are long. My hatches are 20-24 hrs
after wetting (in fresh water). [If nobody moves the lamp!]

I usually use Artemia sanfrancisciana from the SF Bay or Great Salt
Lake. A lot have been coming in from South America and Asia, and I have
little experience with them. I'm a quitter. Those have given me poor
hatches so were abandoned early.

I usually do go to considerable lengths to keep the hatch from being
spread out over several hours. [Inability to do so was one reason I
abandoned the Asian cysts.]
