Re: [Killietalk] convention - Cant resist saying it!!
I just have to second Nick's comments. As one of the youngest AKA members (18, college freshman), I know what it's like to have people kinda look at you and wonder who's your dad, all that stuff. But now I've been to somewhere around a dozen regional shows and a convention, people start to recognize you after a bit. Before long, you've got plenty of fish friends all over the place, and a show is just a nice reunion with some fish involved.
My one piece of advice if you're new at a show, and want to get to know people--help bag the show fish that are going in the auction. It's a great way to talk to people, get to know them. And you get a really good look at the stuff that's going to be in the auction the next day.
Oh, and go to WAKO in November...I always have a blast up in Milwaukee.

killie shows you stop feeling overwhelmed. Doesn't matter how
well-known someone may be, they don't know everything and you might be
able to teach them something. If you can't make the convention,
attend the next best thing: WAKO 2008 in Nov. ;)

Alotta the time I feel overwhelmed by being around so many well known people that have been around longer than me, but I learn a lot. Always learning. Dont let looks fool you though I've been around for while myself, just relatively new to killies. Kinda think of it, as of this year I've now spent half my life in the aquarium hobby... dang that seems like a long time. LOL
