Score around the whole tank wit a glass cutter then take a piece of string and wrap it around the tank on top of the score the put lighter fluid on the string and light it this will cause the glass to crack on the score like cutting a bottle. Make a jig to hold the cutter and have a large flat table to slide the tank on.
