Re: [Killietalk] Michiana Show 08'
I would like to thank Jim and the Michiana Aquarium Society for inviting me
to speak at the KillieKarnival 08. They do an outstanding job and make
putting on a show look easy. I hope I didn't put everyone to sleep, and
that maybe some interest was generated in keeping Pachypanchax species and
Lampeyes. I would also like to thank Jim for being a gracious host and for
the tour of his fish house. He has a remarkable assemblage of fish,
including some great show specimens.
The Michiana crew did a great job on the show and the auction. I came back
with 3 pairs, which were all I had room for, but was sorely tempted by some
others. There were also a lot of great fish in the show. The killie hobby
is alive and well in the Midwest!
Like most conventions, one of the most rewarding aspects is meeting other
killie people. I had the chance to talk to some great people. The late
night discussion was one of the best. There was some serious talk and a lot
of laughs! Little did I know what I was in for whe I followed Jack up to
the Captain's Cabin ;-).
I am sorry I won't be able to make it to Chicago, but I hope to see you all
in Syracuse!
Rich Pierce

Well folks, KillieKarnival 08' is over, but the late night discussion
HAS to go down in the books as one of the best.
What ye' say there Richard ??? The "gifts" were actually 2008
Calendars. Jim & Matt's names were entered in a couple sites
which then gave 12 compatible matches each. Unfortunately, for
some reason, they decided NOT to pass them around humm !
Maybe Jim will bring his to Chicago, Matt's will be there ! I
had a GREAT time as usual, Jim and crew really do a nice job
as a HOST in the truest sense, thanks !
In closing, we also learned the "Cry of the Buffalo", you just
HAD to be there !
Next on the Tour is Chicago, and the "discussion group" hopefully
will be available with the Pres. of ChiKA, and close to as "spirited"
Good job guys, here's hoping for another year !
Here's looking at ya,
Capt. Morgan
(Don Mortenson - really !)
